The Smart Growth Education Foundation was formed in 1999 to represent the homebuilding industry's concern for future residential development and efficient land use in Northeast Ohio.  The goals of the foundation are to:

The Foundation represents and is funded by home builders in the counties of Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, and Summit. 

What is Smart Growth?

Smart Growth means building a political consensus

  1. to support comprehensive local plans employing market sensitive and innovative land-use planning concepts to   achieve a wide range of housing choices for all Americans
  2. to fairly and fully finance infrastructure to support necessary new residential, commercial, and industrial growth, and;
  3. to preserve meaningful open space and protect the environment
